Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I say Door gunner NA Thomas Saunders , Is that Aircrewman Saunders????
  2. No, The Portside Gun Mod is manned by Naval Airmen and AET's!
  3. So !!!! Flying pay??????????????????????
  4. Indeed they do/did receive flying pay 24/7 whilst in theatre, which was/is a major annoyance to the flying maintainers whom only received it when they flew a PTF.

ps. excuse the do/did's as the info was current during my last stint in KAF (June 09). It may have changed/improved for the FM's since.
  5. Yeah, it's gone back to the old system where FM's get it 24/7, the same as winch weights and door gunners, but only if they're in one of the FM billets. Funnily enough, there isn't such a high proportion of ex-Lynx M1's returning their flying kit as soon as their draft is over. Common sense prevails at long last
