Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. i am currently waiting for my joining date after sucessfully completing the selection process (joining as a naval airman SE) and was wondering what the likelyhood of a tour of afghan would be as an SE, are there a number of RN airbases in afghanistan?

    any info would be appreciated,

    thank you.

Over 1000 sailors have served in Afghanistan this year out of a trained strength of 36 000. As there are RN aircraft deployed in supoort of the Royal Marines it is certainly a possibility but not guaranteed either way.
  3. JFH has SE's in Afghan.
  4. According to the MoD website there are elements of 845, 846 and 847 NAS in Afghanistan..... They've also all served in Iraq until pretty recently so, if their past track record is anything to go by, you should get plenty of chance to go on ops!
  5. theres an exciting job !
  6. Any chance of a dhoby bag when you join up?
  7. The answer is a resounding yes!!!! You will get to go to the sandy place if you are drafted to CHF. I'm sure you shall enjoy the place, I fully intend to when I go.
  8. ahhh good good,

thank you for all your info
