MP says bootnecks are not thick

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Nice to know what MPs really think about their country's armed forces personnel ie "I was struck by how intelligent they were". Still, at least he apologised and actually went outside the relative security of Camp Bastion to go and talk to people out in the FOBs. Let's hope he puts his Honourable peers right, should he hear them slagging service personnel off as unthinking drones. HERE
  2. Thats lovely having those nice MP types flying in to see our "intelligent" Royal Marines. Now then lets hope they go back and get the lads the kit and resources that they need. Good Skills 40 CDO R.M
  3. Damn, I was too nice! I've juts re-read the article and it sems the MPs met the lads as they returned to Bastion to go on R&R. I wish
MPs would demand to go out to the FOBs for once . Perhaps they have, but I have not heard of it. If an actor can leave the relative security of Camp Bastion for the FOBs I see no reason why our elected MPs shouldn't pay them a visit.

There are probably more graduates serving in the Royal Marines as Other Ranks than any other single element of the armed forces.
  5. Did you see that the RM display team (synchronised roll mat fighting?) are going to help launch the Ventura with Helen Mirren?

And I supplied the costumes and trained the Noddy people for that ship as well........ :dwarf:

Who says booties are bone? :w00t:
  7. Huzzah for Royal, now where can I get rid of this chunky watch and get MY brain back.

Oh dear, whatever happened to 'Royal Marines, On your heads, BOUNCE!'?

  9. So, if i'm reading this correctly, this PM did question the intelligence of booties in general beforehand?
Maybe he saw RM basic training once and thought"why do these thickheaded morons do this to theirselves".Or something along that line..
  10. Spot on, Cloggie.
  11. James Gray is only a backbench MP, not Prime Minister yet! He is a keen member of the Parliamentary Scheme which was set up to give MPs with no experience of the Forces an idea of the living and working conditions you endure. Members join the scheme and automatically are assigned the rank of a Junior Officer. This has cause some amusement to those MPs who have experience in the Regulars only in the ranks.

A list of MPs that have any military service would be interesting and very short I would think, especially those that served "in the ranks."
  13. Janner

I have such a list at work. Actually there are a fair number of ex-servicemen including Dr Rudi Vis, who served in the Dutch Armed Forces.

PM me your email address and I will send you the list.

  14. Why not post it as a seperate thread?
  15. Yet another story that brings into question the competance of our MPs.

Steve, no problem with the email, tart, but if this information is already in the public domain, it might be of interest to others on the forum, as Shakey says
  17. Anyone and anything that helps dispel public misconceptions of Booties and members of other British fighting units as 'dumb brutes' should be applauded. I'm now looking forward to seeing Blobby, NZ Bootneck and Harry on 'Mastermind' with Blobby answering questions on 'The life and times of Noddy'. Any other specialist subjects spring to mind?
  18. Yes, I would like to know which of our sitting MPs have served in the Armed Forces. I've just spent 40 minutes online trying to find the answer but have had no luck, anywhere! Perhaps I am asking the wrong question? I've tried variations on 'How many UK MPs have served in the armed forces?' with no luck.
  19. David Davis ex 21 SAS (Artists) Theres one for starters!!
  20. Harry, there was a stab at identifying them in this thread on ARRSE, excerpt below.
