More Brigadiers than troops

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Today's Telegraph ,in its Letter column printed a letter suggesting there migh be more serving salaried Brigadiers in post than the enrolled numbers suggest.
Could Commiodores in the Royal Navy be similarly circumscribed?

Never heard of these in the RN.
  3. Perhaps. Of greater concern than the number of officers of flag rank, however, is the proliferation of Mr. Norman Grantham's pseudonyms. Not to worry though; we have a Lt Cdr keeping track of them.
  4. So, Norman's escaped from the asylum. Perhaps he and Nails can spend a bit of time in the chat room together, they surely deserve each other.
  5. More properly --Noms de Guerre rather than pseudonyms or even Noms de Plume to be ridiculously profound.

    Oh goody, Normans back!

If someone can explain to me how roughly 200 Brigadiers outnumbers 25000 infantry, then I'd be most grateful.
  7. Now pay attention please.
"More Brigadiers than troops" was presented as a euphenism to excite rather than as a statement of fact.
    However ,
We are inundated with Brigadiers et al with MOD running out of titles with which to appoint them.
" Rodney, How about Chief Assistant to the Assstant Chief appertaining diversity"?
Wonderful Rupert, But we now have 10 Commodores to invent titles for
!How about Second in command to the Admiral commanding the Gibraltar Flotilla ? Excellent! Dry Sherry ?
  8. Tragically, you have a serious point that would be taken seriously (as well it ought to be) were you not Norman.
  9. That I am not "Norman" matters not. The Armed forces are seriously overburdened with officers that are expensive to keep but more expensive to get rid of.
The employment figures are kept artificially high with the Royal Navy ( and others) being encouraged to recruit further with no warships in the offing ever for them to sail on

It may suggest normanlike that there are too many without suggesting how many are justified but it doesn't suggest that there may

Norman (mackerel) has gone because he has been banned for the fortieth time. The gent in the photo may share some of norman's gripes, bile and duff information but he doesn't live in P*** C****. Unless of course Norman moved and changed his name - as well he might as Rum Ration's is not the only shit list he's on; isn't that so Norman?

I'd leave Mr Egerton-Thomas out of it although his maily does have 'Norman' written all over it.
