  2. We obviously have the expertise left in this country to build nuclear reactors, why can't we build reactors for ourselves to power the energy needs for this country.

  6. Simple. Its now a privatised industry.
    If the private sector wants an increase in generation capacity, or to replace the older stuff, then they can get their hand in their pocket and invest. But theres no need to invest if your the chairman of a utility/transport firm, you just hold out your hand and expect the taxpayer to cough up. And if the government won`t stump up, just keep increasing the price to the end user...which is the UK taxpayer.
    Heads I win, tails you lose. Privatised industry, the biggest no-risk cash cow you can find.
