Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. "Alarm Sea Dart" LMFAO

  2. Think we need to reproduce this as recruiting leaflet, this is the stuff we train to do and so often never really get to use it in anger. The work horses of the navy, the Tpye 42, so few left, but still doing the job. Have a safe trip Liverpool and you'll be home for Christmas.

Being so close to shore are the lads still eligible for duty free baccy?

  4. Being so close to shore I'm sure some of them are getting more and more concerned re the safety of their I Pods...

The Sun (spit) and Mirror (SPIT) are very excitable and not very well informed even if they are a lot closer to the action than I am.

  7. I think that was meant to read Mach II as in Mach 2. Probably getting confused with Mark II.

For all those tabloid readers who are familiar with Roman numerals?

Stirring stuff indeed. BM-21 as an anti-shipping weapon - interesting. Anyway, well done HMS Liverpool.

  10. The system has even gone to sea as the A-215 Grad-M:

Fascinating, thanks N-G. One lives and learns. Wikipedia tells me there is even a version of BM-21 for the protection of naval bases with special anti-underwater-swimmer ammunition.

  12. Funny old thing. Just seen this on PPRuNe:
    Erroneous dictation, perhaps?

  13. Err, that's part of the prose, not a caption. The caption for that photo is "Daily Mirror Defence Editor, Chris Hughes, in anti-flash clothing (Pic: Rowan Griffiths)"

I don't see the caption of which you write but I see what you mean. I'll get out of my glass house before I throw any more stones.
