Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. HI all, been searching around trying to find my way in life. Diving has caught my eye, particularly as a warfare officer. I have read on various sites that some do train with infantry ( i take it RM) and that they work closesly with the SBS. Is this true? Also on the navy site, instructors had para wings, which begs to question are divers trained in HALO and HAHO jumping from a C-130??
  2. You would have more chance joining as a RM officer and then specialising later towards SBS. Some divers can be seconded to helping teach SBS, but not very likely to see action.

Entry as a Warfare officer will not mean that you will get MCDO and you will have to spend approx 4 years earning your watchkeeping ticket normally prior to the selection. If you want to diver, then join as a MCD, but be aware there is a long waiting time to join.
