Mess Funds

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Is it usual practice in RNR units to publish annual accounts on mess funds in the interests of transparency?
  2. No. But they will be audited by a series of compliance officers ( who are liable for the accuracy of the report).

I would have thought the accounts would be reported on at Mess Meetings and audited under direction from the CO.

I also don't see why they should be made public, other than to Mess Members; these are their funds after all and if nothing untoward is happening and they clear audit then they are the business of no one else.
  4. Mess funds, and more importantly the annual audit report should be available to all mess members. If you ask to see them and are refused, an email to the mess press, cc the CO & XO asking for an EGM to discuss why you can't see them will normally do the trick.
