Turned out that I was called back in to be told that I need 3 tests done before I can be passed!

So now I'm back to my GP and if they aren't willing to do the tests on the NHS it's off to London to see the navy doctor, which I hope isn't the case as I'll be waiting forever!

Quite optimistic now though as I've passed them before at different stages of my life haha!

I had an inhaler prescribed for a bout of flu that caused a "tight-chest feeling" back in 2011. I have been told I can apply for RN Jan 2016 (finally! Following my dad's footsteps hopefully after this wait) but what happens after that please?

I've heard about peak flow diaries to do (as I know I will have to from the 4 years clear rule and ruling out a 1-time asthma diagnosis as a child) however, not sure what is the procedures from then. If it's just a peak flow diary or? I'm 22, a female and 151cm. Not sure predicted flow reading I need.

If it means anything, I did a peak flow diary for a month and they didn't even ask for it in the end and I was in the same boat, diagnosed as a child.

I was hitting quite high numbers but I'm a 19 year old male at 181cm. I was however a smoker for 3-years. As far as I am aware there is no other requirements after the peak flow if they actually ask for it back. (I might be wrong though)

I started my application over two years ago, the RT and all of that stuff was done within about six months, then came the medical. After several appointments going backwards and forwards I was made PMU because I had bowel cancer when I was 22. There wasn't enough information to ascertain if I was cured or not. So, I went and saw specialists and had tests (many more appointments) all under my own steam with the NHS who I have to say are F*&$ING awesome. We got the evidence together and submitted it with the help of the AFCO to the SMO(SE). There was obviously a wait but I think they took a reasonable amount of time to decide considering. I'm now healthier and fitter than I've ever been and waiting to start in November.
You can't pre-empt the medical, you might be there 2 minutes, you might be there 2 hours, you might be going just to hear bad news, or it might be good, just listen to what they have to say. It might be a pain in the *rse all the backwards and forwards, but just keep pushing, keep waiting, each step is a step closer.

Aww firstly, I'm pleased for you and secondly, what a horrible situation you've had to be put through. Cor, they must be impressed with your perseverance though. Good on you!
