Medical Confusion

Hi All,

Just would like some clarity to be honest as the recruiter who is taking charge of my process is no help.

So on the 10th October of this year I passed my medical after 3 months for a review with a medical condition I had. Anyway I passed. Since then till this day of the thread I’ve passed my medical on the 15th and today I got my intake date for training. So you’d think happy days.

An hour or two later I got a letter through the post from the medical team stating that I’m still medically unfit and I have failed the medical. Now after 3 months of waiting around I got told by my recruiter that I passed on the 10th and got told by the medical team today than I’ve failed.

Anyone been through this. still waiting for them to get in contact with me.

There is very little anyone here can do to give you any practical assistance.

Looks like this has gone FUBAR, but only your current case contacts can give you any absolute answer either way. Default to worst case scenario though and while you wait for confirmation, start looking at the possibility of appeal. There are plenty of posts threads and posts on the site that can give you some guidance on this - use the search function.

Could you send an e-mail to your CA this afternoon asking for confirmation that you have been passed as medically fit and have a confirmed start date? If you do it now, you might catch them.

@soleil ive already sent her a message about the confusion and I’m just waiting for a reply. I have “confirmation” on my portal that I have a date for training as I accepted. It’s just the fact I got a letter literally no less than 1-2 hours through the post saying I’m medically unfit still

When was the letter written?

The letter was written on the 8th October but I only got the letter today and that was from the medical team and I got a message/letter online via the portal from my recruiter on the 10th saying that my appeal has been upheld and that I can continue with my application process

Is there a phone number on the letter for the person who wrote it?

No. It’s from the Naval Medical Team in Portsmouth so no telephone number. When I pass or fail it goes through to the recruiters portal to then tell the recruit if I’ve passed or fail but obviously I’ve got both pass and fail.

I've sent you a PM, have a quick look at your Inbox.

Good Morning,

just got a voicemail from the careers office regarding what’s happening. Called them back and basically to cut a long story short I passed. He told me not to worry about that letter that was sent and that capita is different. (Even though it was sent from the navy medical team). But anyway, I’m taking his word for it so yeah not I can relax for a bit instead of stressing.

thank you for all the help. Means a lot.

I am sure the navy are trying to get people in the mindset of that's life in a blue suit, if you cant take a joke you shouldn't have joined up etc. They appear to be trying to piss people off before they even get in!

I understand that for when I start but having a letter on the same day saying I got rejected when I got my start date it’s just a mind “swear word”. You wanna prepare and looking forward to the start date, then all of sudden getting a letter but it’s over with now so yeah.

Hadn't thought about it that way but yeah - never too early to start the real training . . .
