  1. hi, looking at the possibility of a med discharge. im also looking at the possibility of losing my rate (due to the med side of things) would i leave with a med pension at the higher or lower rank? the med discharge is due to non service reasons. im on the 75 pension. i held my rate for 8 years.

    thanks

  2. If you are medically discharged from AFPS 75 your received a pension immediately, irrespective of the seriousness of the condition, based on your rank and length of service (unlike AFPS05 where conditions in Tier 1 do not attract an immediate pension).

The rank used is the highest rank held for two years in the last five. That can be substantive or acting. As you have held your rate for 8 yrs, your pension should be in that rank.
