Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I have just heard from a reliable scource that Mark Knopfler is to release a reworked version of Brothers in Arms to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Falklands.
The cover artwork will be by a Falklands vet (ex RAOC and AAC pilot)
The story will be featured in the Sun sometime this week

Rum Ration out scoops the Sun!!!!

  3. Re: Mark Knopfler-'Brothers in Arms' Falklands 25th Annivers

    Hiya guys,
On the subject of the falklands 25, a mate of mine now in the RNR served down there as a stoker on HMS Antrim. He's trying to find out if any of his old shipmates from this time are going to the parade in london, so if there is anyone out there that served on the Antrim during the falklands, or knows anyone who did, if you can PM me with your contact details i'll forward on to him.

This is absolutely true, its being release next week - predominantly digital downloads because thats the way it is these days.

The cover looks like this which is as said above; Dean's artwork.

Mark Knopfler and his management along with Universal Music and Mercury Records have given up all royalty rights which means that about 70% of all money made by this release goes directly to a fund for sending guys Down South.
