In 1962, visiting his 2 1/2 grandson on board HMS Victorious in Pompey, the long-retired Vice Admiral Curteis (?sp), who had trained in sail, noticed that some of the then recently replaced rigging of HMS Victory was WRONG! He put the Admiral Superintendent in the picture so that the errors were corrected. Dit from said, now 80-year old, grandson this year.

  2. There is an engraved headstone in Devonport Park which states that the "Boatswain did precipitate himself from the foremost top gallents" circa 1804. Any news on the Mail reporter coming down from the rigging yet?
