MA/MA(SM)

#1
Hi, new here.

I'm looking into joining as an MA, particularly interested in a career on boats, however a lot of people on here are advising doing a few years GS first.
One of the things that interests me about MA(SM) is all the health physics/radiation safety stuff. So with that, steering the boat at sea and general housekeeping there's obviously plenty to do, but what about general surface?
Wondering if anyone could tell me a bit more about what skimmer MAs do when they're not handing out sticky plasters/Ibuprofens and of course cleaning?

Thanks

Reading porn, playing Uckers, bumming beer, getting their heads down; the usual stuff. Oh, and if they are on their own (no MO onboard) being constantly anxious about serious illness or injury to a shipmate and what to do about it.
