Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone has attended LRCC recently?

My joining notes tell me to have ONE military topic for a presentation - And have pre prepared TWO presentations from that topic.

The first is to be 7 minutes and the second to be 12 minutes and include Leadershippy things.... Are you actually suppose to pre prepare the 12 minute one- having not actually been on leadership yet? Confused!!!

1985 but some things haven't changed.

I'm tempted to say if you need guidance on this, LRCC is not for you. Oops, I did. From your previous I'm wondering HTF you have a place on LRCC?

There is plenty of literature on leadership in the military (including political direction). Put your phone down and read some books.

I did this weird thing when I did my Killick's leadership course, knowing I would have to give presentations, I went to the education centre for advice and inspiration ;)

JSCSC send course candidates a reading list to chew through before the course starts. If the candidate is wise he or she has acquired the books and smashed them before they get an appointment to JSCSC, never mind joining instructions.

OP, are you a fan of all things Navy rather than a member past or present? Your posts suggest that you are a hobbyist.

FFS!! Both LRLC and POLC are bull poo! They BS you and you BS them. Don't get me wrong, I loved both courses. But for the duration of the course, you showcase yourself and do both what they tell you and what they want to see. 'Taint rocket science.

Prior to going on course, you KNOW what to expect. So how difficult is it to prepare some stuff that means you'll be able to socialise more (cough) instead of sitting in and trying to do it all at the last minute?

Will you be getting your No1s dry cleaned? A special pair of shoes bulled? Fitness up to speed?

Grow a set - and I don't mean a beard!

T-P, not been on LRLC yet (my course is the end of next month) but from what I understand, both presentations are meant to be the same presentation, just the 7 minuet one being a shorter version of the 12 or vicky-vercer. Not even started mine yet either, struggling to find a subject where I can get the C2DRIL element into it.

P.s. I have a copy of software for microsoft word that has all the JSP101 defence writing templates (daily lies, XTM's, loose minuets, etc.), if you want a copy just PM me and I'll email it you.

It looks like the LRCC is going down the same route as the old Instructional Techniques course at Nelson. Same lesson/lecture however only half on the first showing, they then point you to where you are good, bad, need improvement and then you present the whole thing having used their pointers/guidance.

Leadership courses are part of Naval life, go play the game, enjoy, maybe learn somethings, important pass, then return to real Navy box ticked. The key part is PPPPPP in all areas. Simple init

When Crabs do the equivalent for example Sgts Leadership course, they get treated like a Sgt, live in the Sgts mess and rather than putting on a play to please the Captain of Collingwood they organise a Top Table Lunch/Dinner.

Is it not time to bring RN leadership courses into the modern day

I've never heard my team ever putting on a play for the Capt of MWS.
