I'm a Logistics Officer and can certainly answer any particluar questions about that bit of your querey. It is certainly not the soft option and is an excellent choice if you require a challenge. Loggie Officers get invovled in a wide variety of jobs and roles (usually unlike their Warfare or Engineer colleuges) as our skills fit into so many areas; stores, catering, Hotel Services, admin, recruitment, intelligence, law, finance and many more. Your sight will not barr you from this branch although it may have implictions if you wish to join the Submarine Service as a Loggie, although eyesight is clearly assesed case by case.

I have had many exciting and varied jobs as a Loggie and would recommend it to anyone who wants something different. I have served on operational tours, supported ships both at sea and ashore and also worked alongside civilian partners on major contracts.

Hope this helps and good luck. I recommend you try and visit one of the Naval Bases on an acquaint and try and speak to as many Loggies as you can.

Thanks for that, I stumbled across this post but it was exactly what I was looking for! I want to do law and so have applied for Logistics Officer as it's a way in, I'm a lawyer at the moment but because I am a legal executive and not a solicitor I've got to do it this way! When you start at a Logistics Officer do you end up in one particular area or do you end up doing everything? I'm just curious as to how I push things to do more law based stuff? Any help would be fab!

If you have a degree then you can apply for selection for barrister training once your Logs Spec training is complete (as can officers from all other branches). You then go to a selection board who make the final decision. As a junior LO, you will spend a lot of time dealing with disciplinary cases anyway. Also, you don't tend to specialise in one area until you get to Lt Cdr and are in your second or third job. Hope that helps.

I'm currently in the process of applying to become a logistic officer too. Just waiting for the Birmingham lads to sort my eye test form out, and i can get my test and interview sorted.

I have one question- What degree do you need i.e 2.1, 2.2 in order to qualify for barrister training selection?? Or does it not matter?

You need a 2.1 or above. All the degree does it get you in front of the selection board which is an oral interview with a Commodore plus two.
