So, to get back on track,

I was thinking of applying as a Logistics officer but was wondering how difficult the job would be? I mean that as in I'm after a challenge and want something that is stretching and demanding. I've heard rumours that a career in logistics is viewed as a 'soft option'.
I'm slightly short sighted so I presume I'm barred from most of the other jobs within the Navy?
Aside from this, I'm in the final year of a physics degree and would be eligible to do a 1 year transfer course to become an engineer which is something I'm interested in. However, this costs around £10k, which is money I don't have. Do you know if the Navy offer any kind of funding bursaries for this kind of thing?

If you read your reply to the original post I think you will find that you did not actually add anything to the thread or answer the question, and merely posted for the sake of posting to give the impression to the enquirer that you knew more than you actually did.

And as for sexual orientation, I have no concern who or what you do in private. But it seems that you protest too much, so maybe someone has hit a nerve..?!

And another thing - you are free to call yourself a 'scumbag' by all means, but be careful who you include in that description... (Hmm, sadistically hoping that you join my next ship! :twisted:

I'm a Logistics Officer and can certainly answer any particluar questions about that bit of your querey. It is certainly not the soft option and is an excellent choice if you require a challenge. Loggie Officers get invovled in a wide variety of jobs and roles (usually unlike their Warfare or Engineer colleuges) as our skills fit into so many areas; stores, catering, Hotel Services, admin, recruitment, intelligence, law, finance and many more. Your sight will not barr you from this branch although it may have implictions if you wish to join the Submarine Service as a Loggie, although eyesight is clearly assesed case by case.

I have had many exciting and varied jobs as a Loggie and would recommend it to anyone who wants something different. I have served on operational tours, supported ships both at sea and ashore and also worked alongside civilian partners on major contracts.

Hope this helps and good luck. I recommend you try and visit one of the Naval Bases on an acquaint and try and speak to as many Loggies as you can.
