Am I missing something - that article states that Sir Galahad (and her class) entered service from 1961. Surely that SG was blown apart down South in '82 and this SG is a newer platform built far more recently and can't have served that long either?
She was brought into service in 1988.
They made a other one after the war.
Is 20 years service good value for money from one of these ships?
First you mention 'Models' and gets Blobbs all excited, unknowingly, over model ships, now it's Brazillians. Now Son of Credders.......
No idea, but the class was replaced by the four Bays, so it would depend if there needed to be any special to type support arrangements and would it have been cost effective to maintain that for one hull.
As to eliding the point that this is the 2nd Sir G, we surely don't expect MoD announcements to be accurate do we? Or did MoD hope that nobody would notice the 20 year thing?
