Life on a submarine?

I’m joining the Royal Navy as a submarine warfare specialist just waiting on a face to face medical now as someone who has been in the army I think I have at least an ok grip on military life although I know there will be a massive difference between being in the infantry and a rating in the Royal Navy however I had a few questions I could find a great answer to. Any help would be very much appreciated

what is day to day life on a boat like when your at sea?

how can I expect to go to sea as a rating?

what is the travel like as I’ve been told by some i visit ports alotand by some that I would spend the whole deployment at sea?

what is promotion like? Is it any diffrent to the surface fleet as there are less people in the submarine fleet?

1) Life at sea is 6 on 6 off and can get monotonous, especially on bombers (my opinion)

2) You'll have plenty of sea time.

3) SSN's get the jollies, bombers spend the whole deployment at sea.

4) Promotion is just as good on boats as it is in the surface fleet, although as there isn't many of you onboard you have the chance to shine, the opposite is also true ;)

Life as a junior dabber can be pretty crap from what I've seen. I'd expect to do alot of scrubbing out

That's more a WE function?
Nope, operating mechanics, back afties, operating kit dabbers, defects We. Back afties well capable of making sure dabbers did it safe. Used to go back so when dabbers messed up the operation bit, I could get Chops back aft to train his team, he didn't like that? :D ;)

Yup, MEs don't get involved with SSEs. Tws usually fire it with maybe a dabber to hold the drain BUCKET.
