Leavers event

Last draft was SDG (Submarine Disposal Group). Wandered around Drake getting an assortment of stamps on a discharge card.
Walked out of the main gate thinking bye bye HMS DRAKE and all that. Four weeks later, came back through the gate as a civvie puke and spent the next 23 years in Drake, the dockyard or Mount Wise.
Deja vu rules okay.
Similar wandered around Drake getting a routine stamped, handed in my ID, cut in front of me, given a bit of paper, a temp ID if I needed to come back during terminal leave, walk out Drake main gate, an almost civy, 1 month later, civy. Entered the yard on and off for many years on different projects.

Pusser sent me a letter directing me to Nelson to do my discharge routine, I was at Raleigh at the time, which was a discharge centre (no jokes please!) so got it changed to Raleigh, but they made that a complicated procedure, nothings easy with the mob!

Well to be fair, when you are dealing with papyrus and goose feather quills, it would have needed a fast horse to get the message there and back just for your seemingly simple change. You were lucky that you avoided 10 lashes for having the temerity to question the judgement of the Sea Lords!

I left 2008 time done to pension, no certificate....
Just dug mine out, it's not a certificate but a Valedictory Letter, at least thats what it says on the title block.

My DO ( a WO1) and I wrote it for the Commodore of Raleigh (as it was then, a 4 ringer nowadays) to present to me. It's all coming back to me now!

Nice to know they are all personalised!
Why cant the give a knighthood or something after all politicos get them for far less.

Where you at SMQ South?

I got a Valedictory Certificate when I left after 24 years in 2007. Handed over by a Commander in the TTF Faslane. On the ID card front, I knew a Master at Arms quite well and he missed with the scissors. The card came in handy for discounts when we went on holiday to the States.

Still waiting for an invite from pusser to apply for the vets id card.

I have an ID Card, I lost it whilst in-service and found it many years latter when clearing my attic? No idea if they are still the same.
