Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Lillian Gertud Asplund, the last American survivor of the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, died peacefully at her home in Shrewsbury, MA Saturday. She was 99. She, her mother, and one brother were the only ones of her seven member family to survive. Her father and three other brothers died.
In addition to being the last American survivor, she was also the only one left who was old enough to have memories of the sinking (she was 5), so the last eywitness accounts died with her.
Two British survivors are still living:

Barbara Joice West Dainton, of Truro, England (was 10 months old)
Elizabeth Gladys Dean, of Southhampton, England (was 2 months old)

    Rest in peace, Lillian.
  2. Aww bless, R.I.P!

What a memory to live with, must have been a rough ride.

    God bless
  3. Does this mean there will not be a "Titanic II" movie?

Just kidding - may she rest in peace... to survive that and live through two world wars, the depression and Dubya.

  4. I wonder if she took Ice with her Gin?
