Looks quite impressive!

Though the driver doesn't seem to have much side armour.

& yes, I imagine Chatham High Street on a Saturday morning is certainly comparable to downtown Kabul, though perhaps with less savages?

Looks impressive, worringly however it's been made by DML (now known as Babcock Marine). Lets hope their better at WMIKs than they are at submarine repairs.

Working with the Army, the company procured the vehicle in seven months.
Is that from design to build? Seems very quick. Considering the normal lead times on anything BAE builds

There a load of them parked up in South Yard Devonport and I had a little look. Seem ok, seats should have been fitted with some form of suspension.

I think the winner, to the untrained eye, is that they are fairly agricultural. In that they don't seem to have lots of fancy bits so if a part fails it should be easy to fix.

They do look very shinny and new, the temptation to "borrow" one was high.

Is it just me or could a bloke with a pistol take out the whole crew (If he didn't get shot first) surely for a fighting vehicle it should have some more crew protection?

Some armour please!!!!! Is it me or does it have the same features as a pinzgauer?? All they have done is dress it up with weapons.... Not very impressed...

There is a FUNDEMENTAL flaw with this vehicle…

The driver and front passenger are sitting right on top of the front wheels…

And which wheels will detonate any mines it finds?

a USMC Cougar mine resistant and ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle after it had been hit by a very substantial IED in Iraq. The crew escaped with only minor injuries and no one was killed, even though the blast ripped the engine from its armoured bay and hurled it over 100 yards

Note though, that an IED hit that vehicle not a mine!

For the REQUIREMENT the M-WMIK meets exactly what has been asked of it by the users!

Great asking for armour etc, the users have decided mobility is there top factor..

Big IED or Mine hits Cougar/Mastiff - Crew walk away with brown trousers

Big IED or Mine hits Landie - Crew die or don't walk again

Big IED or Mine hits blinged up SupaCat - Crew die or don't walk again

Mobility gives you ZERO protection from things that go bang.

Don't argue with any of that but I know for a fact that the requirement was decided by the people currently in theatre and from those who have been in theatre. Its not done by people sitting in MOD dreaming up what could be a great sand chariot, the real users sat down and defined what they wanted.

There must be something about it otherwise it wouldn't fit what they looked for and by all accounts it was as close a match as you can get.
