Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. 220 - Resting heart rate - Age = A
    a x Required percentage (o.) = B
B + Resting heart rate = "where you want to be"

if you are unsure of your resting heart rate; take it each morning as soon as you awake every morning for a week, then add each, and divide by 7.
-This will give you your average

  2. In English please.

  3. OK

    eg....

A 50 yr old man with a resting heart rate of 55 beats per minute, would like to train at 80% of his max heart rate.

    so....

    220 (max HR) - 55 - 50 = 115

    80% of 115 = 92

    92 + 55 (resting HR) = 147 beats per minute

    (hope that makes more sense)

  4. Thank you....my blood pressure is 110/ 70, not bad for a silly old prat.
