Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. At 0930hrs I herd the letter box slam as the post came through the door jumping out of bed (ouch as my bed is 5 foot of the ground, no dammage done) whith hope and antisopation that the letter was my start date for HMS Raleigh. Alas just another bill. :sad11:

The AFCO applied for my dates mid July I understand that the team at HMS Raleigh havs been on 4 weeks leave during the summer.

So I was wondering how long have people waited for there dates to start and can you state if you were ex-service like myself or from civie street.

As i know the rules for appling for dates are diffrent in both cases.

    Thanks for your help

Sorry about the bad spelling :homework:

At risk of repeating myself. I say again, at risk of repeating myself...

Current waiting time for AET is around 4 months from when your Careers Adviser actually bids for your Allocation .

As you're a re-entry", Security Clearance (SC) needs to be gained & approval to enter service gained from the Directorate of Naval Recruiting before you can be bid for an allocated entry date.

If your careers adviser has confirmed you have SC, then you could still get an entry date this side of Xmas. However if you don't have SC yet, it'll most likelly be Jan/Feb for entry.

Generally speaking entry dates are allocated about 6 or more weeks before actual entry (unless it's a short notice vacancy).

Give your AFCO a ring & ask to speak with your Careers Adviser, it's what they're there for.

    Good luck!
  9. Thanks ninja

My guess is possibly November, maybe.

Mind you, I often get it wrong!
  11. Oi!! We can spel good, ask enybody!!
  12. Pardon?

  13. My Husband Gavin had to wait from may 06 till april 07 for his date at raleigh. He hadn't been in the services before.
  14. WTF?

You've passed your security and you STILL have to wait months before getting your official date... a date that's months away from when you receive it?

Oh well lads, seeing as though I still haven't even passed the security check, it means I should be at Raleigh by the time I'm 30.
  15. The WAFU branch has always been a long wait, I remember a lad, when I was applying, had been waiting 6 months before he got his date.

    Or you could fall for the same [email protected] I got, AFCO said;

The waiting list for this branch is around 2yrs, now you can join up as an OM and eventually transfer or you can wait.

Me being young and niave said ' yep, I'll go in as an OM and transfer'

After all the interviews and medical etc, I waited all of 3 weeks before getting my date, although, I had to wait 4 months before joining. Now if I only knew then what I know now............that AFCO dude was spouting sh*t! The only way I was ever leaving my OM(UW) branch, was by signing off :threaten:

Good luck and hopefully it will come soon, have you called them to ask?
