Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. New to the site.....quick question if i may.

Upon joining the RN can you be drafted anywhere....ie Can you be drafted to a Submarine even if you would rather a surface vessel?

Sorry if this is obvious to all but I have had conflicting reports recently.

    Cheers

  3. So if you suffer with claustrophobia you wouldn't be accepted into the RN?

There are a lot of small confined spaces on all RN vessels not just Boats so I don't see that claustrophobia would be a reason for you not to serve in the Submarine Service any more than any other ship bourne branch

  5. Having been on both there's no way I could do the submarine but the ships are fine....Is this likely to be a stumbling block?

    Cheers

  6. Not if you join a trade that doesn`t do subs.

  11. Tell them you suffer from severe flatulence! It would be an explosive gas hazard in a confined space then. Alternately have a sex change - as no women are yet allowed to sleep beneath the waves...
