These couple of questions are more for my interest than sons. I have a basic idea of Navy training and the roles, served in the Falklands (have a vague memory of being poured off a ship after an invite to the senior rates mess) and at HMS Moscow with the RN

what does phase 2 involve for a potential PTI? (Obvs buying mirror,s fake tan etc..) as far as I know Clubz steer the big grey things?

does Raleigh basic training finish midweek or on a Friday, just trying to work out if we cant attend the pass out would son travel home prior to Collingwood or do we need to plan a trip to blighty to catch up with him.

Raleigh always pass out on a Friday, weekend off and then on to Phase 2.

There is some detail, it's not much but it's not too bad:

26-week Leading Physical Trainers Qualifying Course, the Leading Physical Trainers course covers a wide variety of both academic and practical subjects. Students learn instructional techniques and the practical aspects of taking PT classes, plus fitness principles, diet & nutrition, circuit and weight training theory, anatomy and physiology, fitness testing and sports administration. The course also covers basic coaching and officiating across a whole host of sports, plus experience of adventurous training and challenging activities.

Nice to see the forces don't change. Son flew to LHR this morning then train to london then 3 hr train to plymouth. Same airline had a direct flight leaving for Exeter half a hour later

Still need a train to get to Plymouth though. Chances are, it would be the same one from London, once timings are factored in

At last after 2 months our GP has posted the information to Capita about some surgery my son had when he was small. Unbelievable it has taken so long - just needed dates and outcomes. No medical opinions as it was so long ago and never been any issues since.

We had left it to our son to contact the surgery as we didn't want to interfere, but after 2 months patience had worn thin and it looked like they were treating him with disdain. My wife rang them up and it was sorted the next day.

Anyway, hopefully his face to face medical and then PJFT and he should be ready to go. Just hope this delay hasn't dropped him down the queue and he faces a much longer wait as a result.

As mentioned on another thread my son has had the all clear from Capita on the additional information provided by his GP. So the triage stage is now OK. The message from the Navy said they will now apply for a slot for him to join the Navy. Any ideas how long this takes and as he still needs a face to face medical, I am a bit confused. Any insight gratefully received! The message also indicated he will be able to provide evidence of meeting the PJFT standard once he has a slot. I assume this would take the place of a test in a gym as they are all closed in Wales.
