As we've tracked on to sport here rugby question son is a keen rugby player and was selected for ulster development until covid. Anyhow with things starting to return to normal will he get a chance to play during training and who would he need to speak to about it.
Cheers
get him to speak to the PTI's even if he cannot play during part 1 training, they should be able to point him in the right direction and give him some RN contacts, then again speak to the PTI's at his next camp.

My son has his interview on Wednesday which will be by phone. No video, just phone.

He has prepared a lot of facts over the last 3-4 months. Difficult to remember them all but am wondering should he have a crib sheet to hand for this interview or just revise his notes beforehand and go in off the cuff?

He has only just turned 16, and while a competent young man he is basically still a kid. He is not going to present like a bloke with 10 years experience in the workplace.

Can't make up my mind whether notes would make him a bit robotic and his own character wouldn't come out.

I would tell young matelot to relax, breath and answer the questions honestly and not waffle too much.

Crib notes are great if you know the subject in depth and need cues, if the interview goes of piste then he might get flustered. It will then sound like he is searching for the answers.

Careers advisors deal with a lot of young men and women, they will talk them through the process. It’s not a memory test per se, more a case of why do you want this job.

He should have been emailed on the candidate portal all the things that will be covered in the interview. Hopefully that should put his mind at ease.

All the best.

My boy just went through the medical triage with no issues raised. Face to face medical and fitness test remain. Looks odds on to have a crack at Raleigh in the months ahead. Very excited for him, and he is bouncing about it too.

Funny, I was called that on a rig run in San Francisco.........

But in your case it is probably because you're a black dafty - am I allowed to say that?

Anyway, back to recruiting - carry on.
