Joining the RNR

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm interested in joining the RNR, but due to my location would find midweek training evenings impossible to attend.

Would this make joining an impossibility?

Are there any units which train at weekends, rather than through the week?
  2. TT
New Entry Training is designed to be delivered on training evenings . What part of the country are you in? Someone local would be better advising you.
  3. I am unfortunately not in the country at all, but would have little difficulty
getting to either Dalriada, or President.
  4. Agree with what GCYZ said, much NE training is done on drill nights. Once past that, it's a lot easier to concentrate on weekends as this is wehere most of the specialisation training is done anyway.

Best to talk with your nearest RU - they may be able to work something out. You're not ex-regular are you?
  5. Not ex-navy, but am currently a part time soldier in Denmark.
  6. Ask your chosen unit about the PONE (pronounced pony) course. Civilian to RNR AB in 3 weeks.
  7. Thanks for tip, that sounds like the way forward.
