Live on the news just now - loads of French political activists fishermen blockading St Helier harbour over fishing rights. Also threat by the French government to cut off 95% of the Channel Islands electricity.

WTF? Our famous Gallic chums over-reacting again? It seems the procedure for fishing licences has not actually changed, but paperwork is being delayed by the French government departments.

In Lil's for obvious reasons - and go!

It's not a blockade, it's a protest.
They've just moved out of the way to let a ship past.
According to the plan, they're going home this afternoon.

El-Froggo is claiming the license comes with a whole load of pre-conditions they had not agreed to - perfidious Albion?

Me Man Nelson is still bang up to date with his advice

There are three things, young gentlemen, which you are constantly to bear in mind. Firstly, you must always implicitly obey orders, without attempting to form any opinion of your own respecting their propriety. Secondly, you must consider every man your enemy who speaks ill of your king; and thirdly, you must hate a Frenchman, as you do the devil.

No, it’s the Jersey Government at work, and they doubtless think the terms are in line with the Brexit deal, even though the Channel Islands were never in the EU, anyway.

There MIGHT be a wee bit of journalistic bombastic prose here......

From the BBC website:
HMS Severn and HMS Tamar are based in Portsmouth. They are both 90.5m in length, have two large guns, including a short-range anti-aircraft weapon, and are crewed by 45 sailors and up to 50 Royal Marines.

Shoddy journalism again.
