40s Stores officers   worked hard to ensure that any shortfall in their stores happened to be on the most recently lost aircraft . The aircrew could benefit as well. One rescued aircrewman who had just ditched. Was found to be celebraiting the acquisition of a fine pair of binoculars ,which he had managed to save for himself, from the sinking aircraft
Scouse have you read a book called Chickenhawk?

Seems a ditched chopper is a valuable asset to a stores officer in any service of any nation!!!!!!!
