Island Echo: "Ryde's Sea Cadets Looking For New Adult Leaders"

soleil

War Hero
TS Royal George, the Ryde-based Sea Cadet unit, is currently looking for additional adult leaders to help inspire and lead Junior Cadets, Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets.

Based in Station Street in Ryde, the unit has a proud tradition of working with young people from across the Island, many of whom have gone onto successful careers in the armed forces, not just the Royal Navy.

Prior military service is not required as a full and comprehensive training package is provided to all new volunteers. Whilst helping cadets, volunteers will receive training in subjects as diverse as leadership skills, drill, boating and watercraft skills.

In the warmer months, in particular, the unit has its own collection of watercraft and cadets get out on the water as much as possible. All that is asked in return is an individual’s time.

Naturally the unit is always willing to hear from potential cadets too! Junior section is for 10-12-year-olds and meets on Friday evenings between 18:30-20:30; Sea Cadets aged 12-18 and Royal Marine Cadets aged 13-18 meet on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings between 18:45 and 21:00.

For more information about the cadets or becoming an adult volunteer, visit the unit in Ryde or email [email protected]
