Is the RNR worth joining?

any chance you could let us know what line of work the civvie job is? this would help target the response. though fully understand that some forms of employment are best not advertised, so you may not be able to allude to it.

However, the "sell" to your employer, should include that fact that there are few (if any) negative to you joining. There is possibility of mobilization - but that will be a few years off yet (for you), and if(when) it happens, there is considerable support for your employer, including covering the reasonable costs of advertising for your temporary relief, and paying a reasonable difference in the cost of him/her, compared to your costs.

Benefits are generic, and you have mentioned most, leadership, management, self reliance, etc however some are specific, and they will relate to your proposed spec, and if you are going for a commission or not. An example, and i'm sure it wont apply, but if you worked in a police armory, then the weapon skills etc from warSea would be a direct read across.

Hope it helps, if it doesn't your unit's Recruiting Officer or UWO/WSC is probably worth a chat to.

Good luck

will that be in a corner of the dungeon with Anastasia?
If is is, I think you are a 'orribbly little man, your father was a hamster and your mother smelt of elderberries!
Is that enough to consign me to perpetual grayness ?

SR - thank you for setting out so clearly why you want to be part of the interrogator branch. I am now off for a long session of therapy which your unit is being billed for.

I'm in the professional services sector.

I'll link up with SaBRE and get their input. A senior management figure in the firm last night told me she could see the benefits and that I should go for it. I hope that's replicated directly up my management line.

I'm under 35; don't let assumption hit you on the way out.

It was an assumption in your favour; he assumed that the reason you didn't know was because you were old enough not to be affected. The alternative was to assume you were just ignorant of this long-term problem. However, you can take heart in the fact that in the future, I am sure he will recall this and simply assume ignorance on your part.
