Hi guys just joined I'm 33 and have decided to try and join the navy as a warfare specialist I'm hoping to get aww if make it that far.
Been a pretty quick process sent off my medical questionnaire 3 days ago and now have my triage phone call booked in for tommorow this is what I'm worried about as I've taken time off jobs in the past with stress and bad back which I will need to tell them but the problem here is I never actually had a bad back I just didn't like the job I was in so went and got signed off to have time off should I tell them the truth that I faked injury.
Also I have unspent conviction from 10 years ago for some reason a restraining order from when I was 23 is still on my record I've contacted the court to get this taken off but could that affect me being so long ago.
Also last but not least I've also had my interview booked in for the end of the month on the shine platform never used is it similar to zoom and Skype I imagine and is it best to do on phone or laptop cheers guys.

Honesty is always the best policy.

Anything you do not declare now that is reasonably discoverable now or later will not end well. You may not want to give too much detail in advance and allow the questions to go in the direction the interviewer chooses, but be prepared to be probed on the reasons.

From a security and vetting perspective, the Rehabilitation of Offenders act does not apply but the nature and date of offence will be placed into context. Noting that the restraining order may not have been a result of a criminal prosecution, you may have to explain why you think it was awarded by the court at the time. If it is still active 10 years after being imposed, that is likely to come up.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply guys , had my triage today was made tmu though until they get some more information off my gp about a heart scan I had 2 years ago which all came back fine so not worried about that just more annoyed with how long it will take for gp to reply and for capita to then review again I've heard horror waiting times when it comes to tmu just hoping it will be quick as they seem to have got me this far in no time at all so far.

Chase your GP up constantly, and Capita. I was at it like twice a week and took the report Capita needed them to fill in directly to my GP rather than wait for it to arrive by post or email. Explain to them EXACTLY what you need, my surgery didn’t seem to have a clue what this report was for or how to go about sorting it. It’s usually the last job they’ll do since it’s not seen to be very important. I went through the same fart on of being TMU, passed as fit, then made TMU again because my GP cocked up and missed off basic info that Capita had already requested so now I’ve got to do it again. The main issue is most GP surgeries won’t send the info until Capita pay them, and Capita won’t pay them until they send the info. See the problem. Sometimes it gets resolved, sometimes it takes a bit of coaxing from either party.

I ended up paying about £60 or £80 (I can’t remember which) in cash rather than wait for the payment to come through from Capita. Expensive, yes, but got the job done, or at least would have if they filled it out properly. Of course you don’t have to pay but it could take weeks or even months for it to sort itself out naturally, if it does at all. Once it’s sent you should get an email from Capita in a week or so and they’ll give you a date for a paper review where they’ll decide whether your fit or not, based off of the info they should have received.

Also, if you do opt to pay out of your own pocket get a receipt and you might, just might, be able to get a refund from Capita. I’ve heard some people have had success in that regard but personally I can’t be arsed to continue chasing them up because they’re so awful.

Hope this helps!

I printed the forms off yesterday and took down to my gp myself and gave to the receptionist she didn't seem to have a clue though, I will just in a few days if they have done it but bet they won't even have any idea what I'm on about as it's nearly a different receptionist everyday. Would they have a record of doing it as they have to do a invoice ?

Yeah, GPs will tend to leave it until the last minute because it’s not really a normal part of their job. In fairness to my GP, for all they filled it out wrong, they did it pretty quickly. Just make sure you’ve explained what it’s for, drop in that it’s integral for you because it could potentially slow down or stall your career. They might keep a copy for themselves, you should be able to request your own copy once it’s been filled out and paid for, by you or Capita.

I’d ring like next week and see where they’re at with it and just stress to them the importance, if you need, ask to speak to the officer manager or even just the receptionist you spoke to before so they at least know what you’re talking about. Might be worth asking to see it before it’s sent so you can check they’ve put the correct info on it. The receptionists should be able to check whether the GP has done it or not, they usually rang me back within a few minutes and were able to tell me the status.

My gp rang me yesterday to finally let me know they have sent off relevant information to capita so should I be hearing off capita next week regarding a decision which I'm pretty sure will be fine as my scan 2 years ago was perfect
