Very interesting article. With a little more care and a little less greed they could have been exceptionally wealthy. It also shows how the system can ignore whatever it wants when it wants if it suits its greater purpose.

The point that they rather pointedly avoided was that Heinrich Thomet is only one of only two or three people whom you could use to facilitate ANY deal of that magnitude. They didn't choose to use him, they had to. That's the job you want; not some middle man getting skinned by the authorities.
