But will we ? I certainly would like to see the end of this stupid metric way of doing things, but after forty odd years of this crap, all the do-gooders will be saying that it is too hard for the youngsters, (anyone Under 45) to grasp the intricate world of pounds and ounces, gallons and pints, let alone yards, feet and inches.

Engineers - young and old - like metric. It makes sense and has been around since 1960, before the UK joined the
(then) EC.

Engineering wise, give me metric any day, fortunately, as a greenie, the units of measurement have never changed.

This is just the rules and regulations covering all things banana:-

S boats imperial except for the metric bits & T boats metric except for the imperial bits.
the contract I work on mainly for the Crabs are all imperial, I changed a drawing recently that was hand drawn in 1945 7days before VJ day. A new bit of kit I was asked to review last week circa 1980 still imperial but they used decimals and not fractions of inches'

You haven't been able to buy TCP ointment for years - they stopped making it.

I'm reasonably reliably informed that TCP is still made in France but that you need to travel to Chad or Burkino Faso to purchase it. You'll need CFA francs.

What's the point? Why would you want to travel to Africa just to buy something that is still likely to be banned over here after we leave the EU. Much of EU legislation will be transfered over straight into UK law without change.
DDT? Really?!

The U.S. still uses measurements derived from the English system of the 18th Century with some slight differences in fluids and dry goods. DDT--What else controls mosquito infestation? It is one of the WHO's approved IRS insecticides (Indoor Residual Spraying)
