Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I thought it would be nice to share some interesting and moving remembrance related web things - feel free to join in ..

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives

You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country

    Therefore rest in peace.

There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets

To us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours

    You, the mothers

Who sent their sons from far away countries

    Wipe away your tears

Your sons are now living in our Bosom and are in peace

After having lost their lives on this land

They have become our sons as well."

  2. Heroes everyone of them .
  3. My Grandad fought at Passendale and Ypes and was captured at the Somme.
He would never talk about his experiences other than he had seen things that he wished no one else would ever witness.

  4. "Good morning, good morning!" the General said,
When we met him last week on the way to the line.
Now the soldiers he smiled at are most of 'em dead,
And we're cursing his staff for incompetent swine.
"He's a cheery old card" grunted Harry to Jack,
As they slogged up to Arras with rifle and pack.
But he did for them both with his plan of attack

This is an amazing book GR:-
