In 2 years........

#1
Hi,

I'm sure this has probably been posted on here before, so sorry if it has. I'm hoping to join the Royal Marines in 2 years when I turn 19. I know the course is very demanding so I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to build myself up for it. Could anyone also give me any info on the Mountain Leader specialisation, how long I'd have to be in for before I could do it, and is it quite a tough course? Any help would be useful cheers,

Alex.

id concentrate on passing training first mate. for the ML aptitude you gotta be a junior (corporal) or have a B grade rorrs, that'll take 4yrs minimium before you even apply for MLs. IF and i'll repeat IF you pass training, go to a unit and put urself on the next recce troop aptitude, recce's full of MLs, they'l point you in the right direction (usually upwards!) :rendeer: <- ML camouflague in lapland

Cheers Ninja.

I'm a bit worried about joining because not only have I joined the Royal Marines before (failed my medical), but I also was a recruit in the Royal Engineers for 4 weeks before leaving to rejoin the marines. I don't know if this will become a problem when I come to re apply, but I just thought I'd ask.

The medical aspects I can't really advise on as I'm not medically qualified, but we would need to obtain your former Royal Engineers medical records & when applying for "Permission to Process", your medical documentation would be scrutinised.
The full Re-Entry Process is here, hope that helps & good luck.

Huzza, this could turn into another Creddly (Back in yer box, Creds, it's only a joke) like saga, but with a Corps like twist.
Wannabe please ensure the following.
You have all your previous extensive Military service documentation available.
You haven't lost your Birth Certificate.
You're medically fit and can run a mile and a half on a treadmill in 10 minutes.
That you really really really REALLY want to do this and are not going to get straight back on the train at Lympstone Halt and go and join the French Foreign Legion.
Oh, this could be fun!!

Hiya Steadman

Welcome to Rum Ration.

For starters, you deserve respect for getting as far as you did with the Paras - no mean feat to get that far.

You already know what is involved in becoming a Royal Marine- forget the verbal, just focus on the physical & mental aspects, you'll do OK.

Believe in yourself & well done getting this far.

Good Luck- keep us posted fella!.

Just wondering why you dropped out of Para School? I was stationed in Browning Bks in 1984.

I was a 17 year old young sproget and was taken under the wings of the Trg Instr's at Depot Para and thankfully we are still friends!

Did you decide the Army was not for you?
