I'm Tired

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

1. This This plagiarized statement is exactly how I feel today, I have changed it to reflect my circumstanes.

I'm 65. I served the UK for 34 years in the Royal Navy. Thereafter I
served the UK Intelligence Services until retirement in 2004. During my
naval service I was tossed around in all sorts of craft, submerged for
three months at a stretch, incarcerated in a Hercules for 9 hours at a
time, forced to sleep in the most hideous conditions - one shilling a
day extra submariners pay. I earned a salary which by the RN's own
admission was below the subsistence level - why else would I have been
paid subsistence money?! Now, given the economy, and a poor pension
it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who
don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will
take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people
too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every
day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters,
wives and daughters for their family "honour"; of Muslims rioting over
some slight offence; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because
they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of
Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims
mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah,
because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we
must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund
mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia, New
Zealand, UK, America and Canada, while no one from these countries are
allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia
or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance.

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global
warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must
help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant
germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up
their noses or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of
all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful
mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting
caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives
and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or
discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 65 - because, mostly, I'm
not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just
sorry for my granddaughters and their children.

If you are going to be abusive to a poster then take your MOD hat off. What make you think that your opinion is any better than someone elses?

...because it's not an opinion, but another one of those boring 'chain letter' posts that never seem to disappear despite your best efforts to ignore them. This one in particular is heavily lifted from a falsely-attributed anecdote by Bill Cosby:

Yet in the "How Long Did You Serve?" thread you say 35 years:

And considering your alleged involvement with the UK Intelligence Services, your online personal security is shocking. Using open sources only, I have established your full name, address, the local publication you are Editor for and your interest in masonic lodges. You weren't 'Special Handler for MOD Laptops' were you..?
8. Maybe granny was generalising, maybe he thinks if a mod is modding he should leave out the "bellmuncher" etc diatribe.

9. Sssshhhhhhhh.

Third window on the right, second floor. My office. I/C shredders.
It's a pretty dull day so I'm now on series 3 of my complete box
sets of "Spooks" Blu-ray DVD's. I'm tired as well, but that's shiftwork for you.

10. Because it is. Bullshit chain posts, especially ones with glaring holes and glowing with idiocy are not current affairs.

Exactly. How come we are bombarded by "news" stories about the latest crack baby to drop out of Katie Price's bearded clam, yet we heard nothing from Natasha Kaplinsky about sex pests driving their dockyard runarounds across the desert..? :?
12. It's an absolute crime.
