bigglesbandicoot said:Yeah it's true about the amount of prior service needed before attemting selection. Back in 2006 I enquired about SBS selection. After a bit of a chat with the guy I had been refered to I mentioned my four years in the SCC. That was that really, I put in my notice from my job as a council excuse writer and two weeks later I was off to SF joint selection.
Now I wont lie to you here, as much as I'd love to say I passed, I failed on the second day. Maybe I could have done better, but it was probably a big ask for a 16 stone desk bound slob in his forties. But then they seemed to think that my SCC time would stand me in good stead, after all T.S Sirius had taught me how to shoot a Lee Enfield and blow a mean bosun's call.
So it just goes to show theres probably a bit more to being special forces than meets the eye, I'd say you need to be doing a more physical job to stand any chance. I recon dustman or postie as a bare minimum.
I thought about giving it another go but nah.
Tell you one thing though, I was in the SF community long enough to know not to brag about it in pubs. I know what happened in those two days and thats all that matters
They let you in that late on? I was under the impression there was a maximum age limit for joining Special Forces!?
