  1. Five illegal immigrants have been caught at a military base having entered Britain in an army convoy, The Sun reported Thursday.

Citing spokespeople at the Ministry of Defence, Home Office and police, the paper said they were found at Duke of Gloucester Barracks in South Cerney.

"We can confirm that five individuals were detained at South Cerney and have been handed over to police," a defence ministry spokesman was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman, meanwhile, told the paper: "It looks like some people leapt from under the canvas when the lorries came to a halt. Three separate police units were called to the scene and five men were detained."

The Sun also quoted an Home Office spokesman as saying: "The UK Border Agency have swiftly transferred five men to our specialist teams of officers. We will remove those with no right to remain in the UK."

According to the tabloid, the lorries were driven by civilian contractors being supervised by soldiers, and senior army officials have ordered a review of security arrangements at the base. :w00t:
  2. Having watched the 10 o'clock news on the Beeb last night, how can we be sure they weren't the civilian contract drivers?
