Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. and start over. Would you change branch?

    if so, what and why?
I would most certainly stay away from the warfare branch :lick:
maybe go for a pretty non intensive job like METOC or Survival Equipment bod
  2. Wanna be woo's :)

  3. FunkyJunky. I am hoping to go in as a Warfare Specialist at the start of 2015. Just wandering why you say you would avoid the Warfare Branch?

  4. I'd have stayed in the same branch but would make sure that told me that, if I joined at 16 again, that the first couple of years didn't count for time done. I don't know if that has changed now though.
  5. Ok so I'm a civ but if I could go back to my youth I'd join up knowing what I know now as a warfare officer

  7. Would it make any difference?, there seems to be a lot of folk on here who joined as one thing and ended up as another, I left as a control electrical mechanic in the weapons electrical branch, just prior to me leaving there was talk of user maintainers, so had I stayed in would I have ended up in the sound shack staring vacantly into space clutching a stop watch in one hand and a long black in the other.
  8. WE Artificer instead of OM (WSM)

  9. Sharkey has a point. My branch history was OEM > MEM(L) > MEA(L) with the tiff brackets changing every 2 years or so but always a greenie.

I tried to change branches in the early 50's. Tried for S&S, got approved by Captain, shot down by CinC. Lord Louis. Shortage of seamen apparently !
  11. You were obviously good at your job, granny.......failures who slap in for branch change usually get it.....otherwise we wouldn't have a Reg branch !
  12. You can't say that, SPB will be along to give you a slap on the wrist!

  13. It's true, I royally failed at being a dabber. Literacy, hygiene, charisma and looks get you nowhere in the warfare branches.
