    Welcome to the site Beth.

The CIS branch is only a fairly new one and is an evolution of previous branches. IMO, I think that it's a branch with a very bright future albeit one where you will spent an awful lot of time at sea. This isn't necessarily a bad thing and it will stand you in good heed for when you go outside.

If you work hard and are prepared to put in the effort, you should have a very enjoyable time in the branch and be rewarded with rapid promotion.

Any more questions, feel free to ask/PM me.
  3. You're allowed to PM the moderators?

    Well I never...
  4. You obviously have that message misconstrued.

    I was deadly serious.

I didn't know you were allowed to pester Moderators and I thought Moderators were only there to enforce the rules.

    So no sarcasm involved Matelot!

Although you could have asked me to elaborate on this thread and not through a PM! :D
  5. Beth,

I agree with The_Matelot's comments. Sitting on the fringes of the Dept as a Weapon Engineer, it does look an exciting prospect, especially with some of the new equipment being introduced and with T45 round the corner. Good luck - ignore most of the moaning whatsits on this site - most of them are bitter!! Stay smiling, and you can't go far wrong (has worked for me so far!!)

  6. Comms is a good branch to go into if you are looking for a decent job in civvy street after your time (or so I am told).

t_m is a good person to approach regarding info on warfare type branches.

    Welcome and enjoy RR!

The addition of the Computer & Network skills being introduced by IS will also help. Once you get above killick in CIS, there should be elements such as network security and in-depth system admin, which are highly sought after skills in the civvy IT world.

I strongly agree although Flagwagger, I wouldn't be so sure about the CIS branch undertaking network security...your lot aren't doing it now. In-depth system admin definitely though.
