I have a cunning plan

Horseshit.........there, we're back on topic.............(sorry about the dots, Guzz, can't get out of the habit, as the gay monk said to the.....oh, never mind)

Quintessential might be a more appropriate word Flags and I agree all those socialists are consumed by the green eyed monster as none of them have an above average income do they?

Bob Crowe RMT - in excess of £100k
Mark Serwotka PCS - in excess of £120k
Matt Wrack FBU - in excess of £120k
Christine Blower NUT - in excess of £110k
Dave Prentis UNISON - in excess of £120k
Tony Woodly UNITE - in excess of £120k
Ken Livingstone avoided at least £50k in tax by paying himself through a company he owns with his wife - now, that is a cunning plan.
All Labour MP's - basic of £66k plus fiddles

All socialists - all on above average income, I could go on, but I can't be arsed - but I think you get the picture, Finx.

Oh dear. Never mind. What a shame...

Another fine example of Tamnottle attention whoring. I wait with baited breath for the next one to arrive. Maybe.

Good move BR and while I am at it having read a post that was submitted elsewhere I feel the urge to respond. No member in his right mind would approach SPB wearing his MOD hat with a forum concern. It's not that long ago that he had to be reigned in for blatant abuse of position, if you expect fair and unbiased treatment then steer well clear of that fellow.

Finks, if it's me to whom you refer, I'm not on your side. I think that you are a special breed of rating who hates 'hoccifers'... because you feel that you are a clever clogs, smarter than 'grunters'. You're not.

SPB does a fine job. I'd hold his jacket in a fight. You should take your head for a shit,

And for the record, I was not "reigned in" by anybody but voluntarily decided, on reflection, to give you a chance to hoist in your inappropriate behaviour and I lifted the suspension accordingly. Others supported this action. But I'm fairly certain that we are collectively coming to regret such leniency.

No it's not you,and this officer thing really puzzles me as I thought it was just members here on RR? He does a fine job in your opinion but as far as I am concerned my opinion stands and has substance. I would not expect you take sides, as in your position that would not be cricket.

If what you say is true that you are able to reflect on a decision made then u-turn truly astounds me.

It's a shame your parents didn't do a U-turn on keeping you when the doctor told them you would be born so boring that it would class as a lifetime disability.

You are another one, like moths to a flame but then I suppose you had to get your snouts worth in didn't you? After all MLP and his massive ego couldn't be the only two who were not invited to the party, there happy now?

I should add that anything extra - from individuals or businesses - is charity and HMRC is not a registered charity ( as far as I know).

Cameron may close some loopholes, concessions and allowances but the loopholes, concessions and allowances remaining will still allow those who know about them and qualify, to use them.

For instance, those who retire from the RN with a pension will lose 40 % of it to tax if their civilian day job is a penny ( perhaps a pound) under the 40% rate or more. A £20k pension becomes £12k. I understand why one may wish to find a way to pay less tax. Put your pension into a pension, that'll do it in my lay understanding. Tax avoidance, legal.

Tax avoidance will always happen amongst the poor and the elite alike, as you rightly said those who know about Cameron's loopholes use them. Came across this piece of history of taxes from this website: https://www.income-tax.co.uk/:

From ancient China, to Egypt, Greece, and the Roman Empire, all nations in the history imposed tax on their citizens, and the percentage of tax paid always increased in times of hardship. However, history shows that it was not always the case. Some nations like the Roman Empire is said to have collapsed mainly because they abused the citizens and demanded unfairly high amount of taxes from the citizens

Interesting that nothing has really been learnt from a lesson 2,000 years ago. Income tax is too high and look our society, I'd argue it's certainly collapsing around us...
