"Do try not to get your penis stuck in a toaster": A message from the fire brigade

It sounds barmy doesn't it, the London Fire Brigade telling people about men putting their genitals where they shouldn't? But the fact of the matter is people put body parts in strange places all the time, get stuck, and then call us out to release them. We're not just talking one or two; our crews have been called out to over 1,300 "unusual" incidents since 2010 – that's more than one a day.

On the national news yesterday there was outrage that tesco had been selling strawberrys at a 'sale' price of £1.99 for several weeks when they had only been sold at their full price of 3.99 for one week. The problem raised was that as part of fair pricing policies foods should not sell for longer under their selling price than their full price, as this can be seen as deceitful which could be the case here. However, people need to perhaps claw back a bit of self responsibility and not rely on someone in head office telling us what is and isn't a bargain! When it comes to food stuffs use your noggin if the price is good- a little trickier when it comes to electricals etc as not everyone has a clear understanding of specs etc and may need some clarification on a fair selling price. Also why on earth did it make the news?!

I presume because of the amount of the fine involved, but a stupid 'story' anyway, yes if a bargain is a bargain thats it.

Try this for size. A Labour politician lets the BBC know in advance about an alleged scam where Tesco is shutting a distribution Depot in Kent only to open another one nearby but only employing cheap east European workers. BBC duly reports this to the nation only to find out it is largely bollocks. Egg on faces all round. Then, manna from heaven, Tesco is fined for a sales technicality dating back two years and dear old Beeb get a film team and a nice lady reporter out and about to bring us the lurid details to try and regain the high ground. It's how things work.

BBC News: "Carlisle Castle recreated using custard creams"

Carlisle Castle has been recreated in cake form by a team of volunteers armed with thousands of custard creams. Staff from three local baking firms used 5,000 of the biscuits to help create the structure as part of the city's summer pageant celebrations. It took the group three days to complete the castle, which measures about 1.2m (4ft) square.

Surfs up dudes.

Hundreds of spectators were swept off their feet when the world's largest tidal bore surged up a river creating an exceptionally powerful wave.
The victims were standing on the banks of the Qiantang River in China's Zhejiang province yesterday when the surge took them by surprise.
The power of the river was exacerbated by Typhoon Trami, a devastating tropical storm which has swept across the region this week.
