Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. 63 years ago on the 14th of May the Hospital Ship Centaur was sunk by a Japanese SM off the Queensland coast. From a Ships Company and medical staff of 332, only 64 survived. Fortunately there were no wounded on board at the time.

While there were low key rememberance services in Australia, as usual there was not a peep from the Japanese goernment. :censored:
  2. Forgive me if Im wrong but Japan has only recently started putting the war in their history books etc.
Im sure I saw an article on the tv about it,something to do with denile perhaps of the acts they carried out such as the one above.
