Find out from your recruiter or from Raleigh when your course starts and then you'll know for how long you'll have to be in holdover, for if you don't start automatically on your phase 2.But even if you do start your phase 2 don't expect to go straight onto your course you might have to do kill skills, blah blah........etc.

Depends on the branch and the time of year you finish part 1. I started mine a week Monday after RALEIGH, people that stay at RALEIGH usually start the following week. If you finish RALEIGH around a leave period, that can delay starting your part 2.

On the other end of the scale, if you’re in a specialist area say a submariner stoker, they have to wait for the correct course to run. As there are general service stokers too, and we need more of them than in sub's, they run 4:1 courses (number approximate).

So the answer is, nobody knows! :D

No, really, it depends on your branch and the time of year.

Good luck, you'll look back and think... I really enjoyed that!

But remember while your there, HMS RALEIGH is not the Navy. Just turn up, do it and move on.

Again, good luck!

Do they still do Barrackguard at Raleigh before starting Part 2?

I remember them, plodding round armed with a truncheon to stop the hordes of the PIRA or the Red Army streaming up Tregantle Lake on the way to Eddies for a Horse Steak!

Not usually, MPGS and the MOD Plod cover that.
