Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Im 33 and waiting for my entry date and im confused about how long i have to serve, i always thought it was till im 40 but my careers person at my interview said its 18 years can someone tell me which one is right.
  2. 18 years or age 40 whichever is later.

So 18 years in your case.
  3. To spell it out:-

Anyone below the age of 22 gets up to their 40th birthday.

Anyone 22 or over gets 18 years.

There are then potential options to re-sign on up to a maximum of 55 years old. Hence the maximum joining age is your 37th Birthday, this is due the the pension scheme being based on you doing 18 years service.

Hope this clarifies everything for you

  4. thanks i understand now
