Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

1. I am still working my way through the WW1 Shetland Roll of Honour. One casualty is listed in the book as "lost by enemy action on 17 February 1917" and the ship is named as HM Transport Mansurel. CWGC has the ship's name as Mansusi.

I have so far been unable to find either of these, or a similar name, on that date.

Grateful for any help.

2. I seem to have found the answer. Apart from the date being out by a year, the ship's name was Mansuri and here is the brief information I have so far -

SS Mansuri was a cargo vessel built in 1894 by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd. In 1915 she was purchased from Bombay & Persia S.N. Co., Bombay by Andrew Weir's Bank Line. On 17 November 1916, Mansuri left South Shields for St Nazaire with a cargo of coal and went missing. She was not heard of again.
