Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Are there are any amongst us here, who have knowledge of an old China river gunboat, called HMS Star?
It would have been about he turn of the last century. I have a picture of my Grand Dad with a couple of his mates on her, wearing "HMS Star" cap tallies.
I would love to obtain a picture, and perhaps some history of her.
I've tried the usual sources, at least those known to me.
Any help would be really appreciated.
  2. If you go to the website below there will be a Google box shown. When it does show put HMS Star in it. There are a couple of pictures on the page that you can send for. She was built in 1896 and broken up in 1919.

  3. Some brilliant ones of the Battle of Trafalgar as well , plus hundreds of other ships , battles etc , so thanks for that link mate
  4. Old Hand, thanks mate. Great site, now book marked.
    Found the pics too. Cheers.

It also appears that we share the same RN alma mater?
