HMS MANCHESTER - DATES

Am trying to nail down some dates of the early life of HMS MANCHESTER. I joined in Barrow-in-Furness at the end of 1981/early 82. We sailed approx Jul for Pt III Trials and were commissioned in Portsmouth Dec 82. In 1983 we did a Falkland patrol (accompanied by Yarmouth, Apollo and Fife) and also a Western Isles trip as Queens Guardship. It's the 1983/84 dates I need to finalise. Can anyone help? Need to get the dates right for a short novel I am half way through!

If you write to the Navigator of the ship (BFPO 331) and ask him to look in the Nav Data Book (its all technically RESTRICTED but well into the realms of public record history by now), he should be very happy to give you the info...
